I purchased this microphone arm because it seemed like it would provide more length for my computer desk. It length and reach of the arm when extended was excellent and met my expectations.The arma comes with a clamp style clip or the type which can be screwed down to the surface . The bottom end of the arm is a rod that go into the clamp and another knob is tightened to secure the rod to the clamp.The top end of the arm has the smaller threads or the gold looking bolt that can be screwed over the small threads for mics needs that large threads. I used the large gold thread and it screwed into my mic holder perfectly.The elbow on the arm has a knob for tightening as does the wrist of the arm. Even with them feeling hand tight, the arm still moves around well and holds in place to whatever position I need to be.Hopefully my picture helps you out in your own selection of a mic arm
